2026 Scholarships

In 2026, I will offer two scholarships for students interested in the art of wirework hairwork. These awards are meant to support sincere learners - those who feel drawn to the medium, who want to build skill and confidence, and who value the history and craftsmanship of Victorian hairwork.

This is not a competitive award. I am not looking for résumés or credentials; I am looking for curiosity, commitment, and heart. These scholarships are a way to make learning accessible and to encourage continued practice in this rare and meaningful art form.

Emerging Practice Scholarship

The Emerging Practice Scholarship is for someone who has not yet taken a hairwork class with me but is ready to begin. It is open to anyone with a genuine interest in learning wirework hairwork, whether you’re an artist exploring new materials or a historian drawn to its cultural significance.

The recipient will receive full tuition for one beginner-level workshop of their choice during the 2026 calendar year. The scholarship recipient will be responsible for providing their own tools and supplies.

Continuing Practice Scholarship

The Continuing Practice Scholarship is for a returning student who has already taken at least one of my workshops and wants to continue building their skills. It is intended for someone who wishes to strengthen their practice, refine their technique, or explore more advanced methods of wirework hairwork.

The recipient will receive full tuition for one intermediate or advanced workshop of their choice during the 2026 calendar year, or, if they have already completed those workshops, they may choose a private session with me to work on their skills or a project of equivalent time (4 hours). The scholarship recipient will be responsible for providing their own tools and supplies.

Application Details

Applications for both scholarships will open October 22, 2025 - December 15, 2025, with recipients announced in January 2026.

To apply, you’ll be asked to send a short email introducing yourself and share what draws you to the art of wirework hairwork. You won’t need to justify financial need; I’ll trust that if you are applying, it is because this opportunity might otherwise be out of reach for you. Your desire to learn is what matters most.

How Recipients Are Chosen

Recipients will be selected based on genuine interest, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning wirework hairwork. I will consider each email thoughtfully and choose the applicants whose goals and intentions align with the spirit of the scholarship. It is not a competition; it is about making space for students who are ready and excited to learn.
